Meet Marcus Ronaldi – he has raised $370 for the Parkinson’s Institute. Read on to hear more about his journey…

Why are you fundraising? I am fundraising to raise money and awareness for Parkinson’s disease. My Mom has had Parkinson’s Disease for the past 6 years and last year I decided to run and raise money for a Parkinson’s Disease-related organization. I was referred to Firstgiving and raised $540.65 for Parkinson’s Action Network . This year, I decided to raise money for the Parkinson’s Institute.

How did you choose to fundraise for your nonprofit and why? I found the Parkinsons Institute when I drove to work and saw an advertisement for them on a Route 101 billboard. Then, I looked them up on Firstgiving, found them, and got in touch with them. I told them about Firstgiving and they joined.

What are your fundraising goals? My goal is to raise $2000 for Parkinsons Disease and to run 1000 miles this year.

What are some of the things you have done that have helped you raise money?
I put a link to my fundraising at the bottom of my e-mail and I also did a fundraising event at the Sports Basement in my town.  Occasionally they host events for people raising money for charities, where they provide drinks, snacks, and promotional prices. They also donated a portion of the sales made that day to the charity.

How has Firstgiving helped you raise more money? I like using Firstgiving because it allows me to fundraise, get people involved, and raise awareness about Parkinson’s Disease. I am excited about the small donations that have come from people in my extended network, because it confirms that I’m getting the message out about this disease which has affected my family so deeply. The fact that Firstgiving makes it easy for people to get involved is of tremendous, tremendous importance to me.
