I am curious; I plan on running my first marathon in early September (the 2009 Kauai Marathon), and was considering raising money for a charity while doing so. I heard of your site and was looking at the list of events, and my event is not listed. Does that mean that I would not be able to raise money for the marathon I am participating in?

Thanks for your comment. Don’t worry, you can raise money for any registered US 501(c)3 non-profit organization, with any event, including the Kauai Marathon. We provide a list of events as a resource for runners because sometimes these events have official charity programs. However, this list is by no means comprehensive, and people create Firstgiving fundraising pages for all kinds of events for all types of charities.
